Day 8 – Killarney and Sleeping in the Court.

After we were done in Bantry we headed to some docks to ride a boat to Garinish Island. We were told it was an island a family was going to build a mansion on. They had planted all the gardens and built the walls but then the wife died and it never happened. The island was eventually granted to the Irish government.

Our wonderful boat.
The ride itself was peaceful enough. The water was very calm.

Suddenly the Captain cut the engine and we floated quietly by a set of rocks. Wait, on the rocks is that? Yes it is-  Seaaaaaals

After this we arrived at the island, it's a BIG post so here's a spoiler for you guys. I'll probably end up splitting the island into about two posts
After that short ride we arrived at the island proper. The entire island was pretty much gardens. It had walls and a few small buildings but no major housing structures.

Day 8 – Killarney and Sleeping in the Court.

Today the next town we go to is Killarney. On the way we’ll pass through Kinsale, Skibereen, and Kenmare and ending back at Killarney at Randles Court for the night.

Killarney is quite the lively town. It seems like there is a lot to do there and there were certainly a few bars that everyone talked about. I spent some time just walking around the city.
Walrus! Oh lawd there may be a goon here.

Other piece of interesting graffiti. This has been my wallpaper for a long time now, I love it
Once we’d arrived in Bantry there was more walking around. This is the town square
 Dat anchor
Another statue of St Brendan, the navigator.

I really love the views here.

More to come, stay tuned!

Back home

I am home from san diego, checked out a car, hung out, had a good time. I'm getting owned by work right now and barely want to move. I promise I'll get the next day up as soon as I can for you guys, sorry about the delay.

Weekend during the week

Comin up I'm not going to be in town for the next few days. I know I don't update daily anyway, but this will delay it a little bit more.
In the meantime I wanna ask, have any of you done urban exploration? I wanna know stories. Better yet, do you know of any awesome places in southern california? I've gone to two places so far myself and would love to do more

Day 7- Cobh with Blarney, Honest and True Final

I want to give you guys an idea of the places we stayed at, a lot of them were very old and, while not extravagant, they had plenty to look at. I greatly enjoyed them all. Especially since, being a last-minute addition, I had every room to myself. It was amaaaazing

We ended the day at the Imperial Hotel. It was a very nice hotel, and very old. I explored a bit here, though not too many of the pictures are particularly great.

Yeah these nice pieces are just sitting in the halls.
I went on a brief trip out the fire doors which led to an alarmed door so I didn’t go further.
 Picture 666 oooOOoo

Day 7- Cobh with Blarney, Honest and True(p4)

Alright guys, sorry about the delay. When the weekend rolls around I'm not really on my computer very often. Here's the final part of day 7! Enjoy

Like much of Ireland it’s a beautiful area. The castle is very accessible(and also very slippery). There are a few separate portions that are rather unstable but you can still walk through many of the main sections. These are various pictures of the grounds and ruins.

Then of course we had to actually climb up to kiss the blarney stone.

A friend of ours(Gary, pointed out in a much earlier post) dropped his camera off the top of the castle presumably through one of these holes but of course we had to finish going through the line to kiss the stone to help him look for it. It had also started raining quite hard so I put my camera away. Yes, I did kiss the blarney stone.

Once we got back to Cork I got a picture of the camera.  Ouch.
That does it for the day, I do have a few pictures of exploring the hotel this time. I'll post them at a later point for you guys. Hope you enjoy

Day 7- Cobh with Blarney, Honest and True(p3)

Continuing on Day 7, a very big day!
Our next stop was Fort Charles.  The thickness of the walls was impressive to say the least. We didn't stay here long, but it was a fun little walk around

We headed to Kinsale next and got there right before some sort of religious procession happened, I really didn’t know the story behind it just that shops had to close their doors while they passed by.
If only establishments at home were so honest, hah.

I must say the ice cream really is delicious.
The procession. It was quite a lot of people trailing behind the ‘official’ segment of it.

That does it for today's section of Day 7
Next time, and final is Blarney Castle. Yes, THE Blarney. It will be a long post

Day 7- Cobh with Blarney, Honest and True(p2)

Think you guys are about ready for the next post!

Let's continue with how the bars here can only hope to look after this weekend, shall we?

This was how it looked outside every pub after you wake up.
Dilapidated Pier(I have one or two more if you want, I love how this came out)
It seems Cobh was bad luck to both the Lusitania and the Titanic

A park in Cobh right on the coast. I liked this piece a lot. It has a plaque naming him “The Navigator.” He’s probably St. Brendan

A shrine to Mary just kinda sittin’ across the street.

That's it for Cobh, next is the Fort Charles and a procession in Kinsale.
